The beauty of this pass lies in its location and the mesmeric sightseeing due to the altitude it attains. The word ‘Khunjerab’ has been derived from two Wakhi language words ‘Khun’ and ‘Jerab’, meaning blood and a creek originating from a spring, respectively. This Khunjerab pass also leads to a Khunjerab National Park, which is home to many exquisite animals and endangered species like snow leopards.
